Evangelism
Chair: Kristen Kopel |
| Evangelism is a ministry that reaches out not only to members
of the church but also reaches out to the community. It is our
goal to invite as many people as possible to either of our two
worship services or our activities. |
Fellowship
Chair: Nancy Cook |
| The fellowship committee is the ministry to provides a conduit
for fellowship among members and visitors. We have coffee, juice
and goodies after the morning worship service that is enjoyed
by all. There is a meal following the evening worship service.
At least once a month we just have a “good time”
fellowship that is enjoyed by all ages. This is usually the
third Saturday evening of the month but changes occasionally. |
Finance
Chair: Louise Bellon |
| The finance committee is the ministry devoted to prudent care of our monies. With the help of the council, this committee plans a yearly budget for the entire church. It is their task to keep up with all of the expenditures and income. They also advise on investments. |
Health Ministry
Chair: Louise Bellon |
| The Health Ministry is a ministry devoted to maintaining wellness in the church community. Occasional classes or presentations are presented. A nurse is available to take blood pressures for anyone who would like to have that done. Members know that they can call on any member of this committee if they have questions before or after a doctor’s appointment or for explanations of tests and tests results. They will also help members get any type of medical help that they need if they are having a problem. Books with drug names and precautions are also available. The Health Ministry also provides Care Booklets at no charge on a wide variety of subjects. These are available in the narthex for anyone to pick up. |
Property
Chair: John Cavey |
| The property committee is in charge of taking care of all of the property for the church. This ministry is a large undertaking but handled well by the chairman and the committee. |
Social Ministry
Chair: Mary Schull |
| The Social Ministry Committee is the committee that reaches out to the community with help on social needs or physical needs. We support World Hunger and each month on the first Sunday we bring non-perishable food for The Sharing Place at Lutheran Child and Family Services. Dorothy Linke ably handles the Red Basket Room. This is the area that people bring anything that they no longer need but could be used by someone else. Dorothy finds homes that are in need of whatever we bring her. Occasionally there is a plea for a special need and the congregation always responds to that plea. For more about the Red Basket Room giving, click here to view the annual report. |
Stewardship
Chair: Denver Cain |
| The Stewardship Committee is the ministry of the church that
helps members remember the true “whys” of giving.
This includes time, talents and resources. Giving is a spiritual
act done in thanksgiving in order to enable the ministry of
Good Shepherd not just to enable Good Shepherd to pay the bills.
